- Senator the Hon Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, has announced the successful funding of the Australian Research Council Linkage Project proposal An integrated genomics approach to improve our understanding fo the biology of genital camplobacteriosis in beef cattle, administrated through the University of Queensland and collaborated through the QLD Department of Primary Industries & Fisheries. - The iVEC Informatics facility at Murdoch University has taken delivery of the new High Performance Computing SGI Altix XE310 Cluster System. Commissioning of the super computer to be completed within 3 months.
- The CCG will be guiding a high school student though a biotechnology research project as part of the sanofi-aventis International BioGENEius Challenge of Western Australia Pilot Competition run by the Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR). Each year two student finalists from WA progress to compete in the sanofi-aventis International BioGENEius Challenge held in the USA.
- The International Symposium on Animal Functional Genomics was held in Edinburgh, 7-9 April 2008. Key collaborator Dr Louise Jackson presented “Bos Taurus and Bos indicus cattle infested with Rhipicephalus microplus show different patterns of gene expression and immune reactions.”
