Lectures and Laboratories

Lectures

There will be an hour lecture and a 3 hour computer lecture/workshop/tutorial every week, for weeks 2 to 13 of semester 1, 2006. Attendance in the lectures is not compulsory, but is highly recommended. The timetable is (from week 2): Day Time Venue Tuesday 09:30 - 10:30 ECL 1.034 Tuesday 10:30 - 13:30 Loneragen Building Computing Lab (Small) - Room 3.33

  • Note: Week 1 will be in ECL 1.034

We have integrated computer interaction into the lectures to assist students to become familiar with unit material. The overheads/presentations used in the lectures will be put up on the unit web-site just before the relevant lectures. These overheads only contain points used in the lecture presentation. They are not substitutes for lecture attendance and the prescribed reading.

The online lecture overheads are password protected. The username and password required to access the overheads will be made available in the first lecture.

Workshop/Laboratory Sessions

Workshop/Laboratory sessions will be run from week 2 to week 13 of the semester. They will involve exercises relating to material given in the lectures. More specific information about using the relevant software will be supplied at the time. The lab exercises are critical to your understanding this unit. You will not be able to complete most of the assignments without doing the exercises.

The Loneragan computer lab will have enough room for all students so only one session is available - this will follow on from the lecture, with a short break to enable students to move between locations.

Lab exercises will be put online as the semester progresses

The online lab exercise sheets are password protected. The username and password required to access the exercises will be made available in the first lecture.
